South Lakeland Mind exists to enhance the quality of life of people experiencing mental and emotional distress and to work generally towards the promotion of better mental health and a greater sense of wellbeing for people in South Lakeland.

Our Values

Everybody experiencing mental or emotional distress has the right to live a full life, to play their full part in society and to be treated fairly and with respect.

People experiencing mental or emotional distress have the right to information and choice and to be involved in their own care and recovery.

South Lakeland Mind has achieved Level 2 Quality Management in Mind and is committed to providing a quality of service that aims to meet the needs and expectations of service users, funders and other stakeholders. South Lakeland Mind has adopted Mind’s values and principles and is committed to equal opportunities.

South Lakeland Mind is pleased to be collaborating in the Gateway centre at Gillinggate, with Captain French Surgery, a ground breaking new facility in Kendal.

Following the opening on Friday 8 March with the Lord Lieutenant, Mrs Claire Hensman (the Queen’s representative in Cumbria), the centre is officially open. It’s an example of one way in which community health services can improve – a place where local people can come for information and advice, practical support and social opportunities.
